Digimon World Techniques

Introduction
In the Digimon World your partner Digimon come with their own unique finishing move. However, there are moves that all of your partner Digimon use before they get their finishers. All of these Digimon can use the same regular techniques depending on what type of Digimon you have. For example if you have Patamon as a partner Digimon he can use move Electric Cloud because he is an air Digimon. Then down the line if you get a Biyomon as a partner you can have her use Electric Cloud because she is also an air Digimon.

Now the trick is you have to learn the technique in order to use it. At the beggining of the game you have Spit Fire or Sonic Jab depending on who you chose as your starter. To expand your moveset you are going to have to look at the technique chart that is exclusive to your current Digimon. You are then going to have to find a Digimon that knows the techniques you can learn and then battle against them.

Take Agumon for example. When you look at the technique chart it shows that Agumon can use numerous fire techniques. The light gray boxes mean that he is capable of learning those moves if he sees them used in battle against him or if he learns them by training in brains. If you were to go battle against a Darkrizmon in the Overdell with Agumon and the Darkrizmon used Magma Bomb against you, then Agumon has a slight chance of learning the move. It isn't a sure thing, but there is a slight chance you might learn the move. The higher the brain stat the easier it is to learn techniques off of enemy Digimon.

There is also a slight chance that you will learn a move while training brains at the Green Gym, but this is very rare. Keep in mind that you still can only learn eligible moves to the particular Digimon you have with you and the move you learn is random out of those eligible moves. In other words no learning DG Dimension with a Numemon.

This last bit is a piece of advice. Certain moves are only used one time in the entire game such as Infinity Burn. Other moves are only used by bosses so if you miss those then you won't be able to get them unless you train in brains. Most of these one time moves apply to the Mech techs. All of the water techniques can be taught to you by Seadramon later in the game before you ask for the Blue Flute. Bug can also be taught to you by Kabuterimon in Beetle Land. I learned all of the techs in the game by careful planning making sure not to waste a rare tech that only a boss knew. If it was a one time only boss move, then I was sure to learn it right then and there.
